Boarding at UVH

Happy boarding cat :) In addition to medical care, we provide boarding facilities for your dogs and cats. We supply the bedding, food (we'll feed per your schedule; wet, dry or both, and treats, as you direct us), 3-4 walks daily, and an ample supply of love. If your dog has a special diet, please bring that with you. While we carry a number of diets here, we do not carry all brands that are available. We have a good supply of towels, comforters, boxes, etc for your dog or cat, but if s/he has a really really favorite bed you can bring that (though we can't garuntee that beds will be reunited with your pet after a trip through the laundry). However, the bed does need to be small enough to fit into your pet's "room". Also, if your pet requires medications, we are able to do that as well!

Pets do need to be up to date on their vaccines. If you have them done at a place other than UVH, please bring in a receipt or other document demonstrating their administration. Or, you can have your regular veterinarian fax over vaccine records (our fax number is 510-841-3019). If your pet is not up to date on vaccines, we will need them done beforehand. Remember, it typically takes a pet's immune system about a week to fully respond to vaccines, so please try to make arrangements well beforehand!

Standard Vaccine Requirements

DOGS CATS
  • Bordetella (kennel cough)
    • Within the past 6 months
    • The Bordetella vaccine is not always routinely given as part of the annual vaccines, but given if you request it of your regular veterinarian.
  • DHPP* (canine distemper/parvo)
    • Within the past year**
  • Rabies
    • Within the past 3 years for dogs over 1 1/2 years, otherwise within the past year
  • RCP* (feline distemper)
    • Within the past year**
  • Rabies
    • Within the past 3 years for cats over 1 1/2 years, otherwise within the past year

*The exact letter abbreviation of the vaccine you pet recevies is dependant on the combo given (ie a 5-in-one vaccine will have more letters than a 3-in-one! The ones listed are the minimum, if you have at least that many letters in the combo vaccine, you're ok!
If you have questions, feel free to call us or your regular vet for an explanation of what has been given.

**As vaccine protocols for pets are currently undergoing review and modification, some veterinarians are electing to perform these vaccines every 2 years instead of annually. If such is the case, we would need to see some documentation that the vaccine was a 2 year. Often the receipt will say if a vaccine is 2 year instead of annual, or will show due date / expiration dates.

Please call us at 510-841-4412 for reservations and rates.
