Pet Insurance
Medical care for pets has advanced greatly in the past few years. Additionally, new
drugs, equipment, and techniques developed in human medicine have made their way into
veterinary hospitals. These are in addition to the standard routine of diagnostic tests,
surgical specialties, and so on; many of which we at UVH possess. As new services
and drugs are offered, the cost of pet care may increase. In order to
provide the advanced care that pets deserve, we depend on pet owners to fulfill
their end, both financially and with home care after the procedure/treatment.
Veterinary Pet Insurance is one of the largest pet insurance providers and has been around for many years. PetCare Pet Insurance is another up and growing company. Please note: we are not affiliated with those companies, nor do we receive any kickback, compensation, reimbursement, or even a box of cookies (doggy or chocolate!) for referrals or new sign-ups. We simply think that they are a good idea! They can greatly assist in the financial obligations of keeping a pet, from annual exams/vaccines/wellness test to emergency care. Some homeowners policies cover pets under property law - it would be wise for a homeowner to check. Homeowner policies may cover vaccines, illness, or injury, though some policies may be breed specific.
Generally, the insurance company will reimburse you for medical expenses. So, after your pet is seen and you pay your bill, you send the claim and a copy of the invoice, and the insurance company will refund you an amount consistent with your specific policy.
