Radiology
Basic Principles
Xrays refer to a type of light with a higher wavelength on greater penetrating power than visible light. Because different materials (ex air, tissue, metal) let different amounts of xrays pass through, we are able to use them to visualize the inside of the body. The xrays that do pass through can be captured in a couple different ways. Most commonly they are used to expose film, creating a permament picture.Images

A cat with a chest mass
The mass is located caudal-dorsal (caudal - toward the tail, dorsal - toward the spine - in this image, to the left) of the heart
A large dog with an abdominal mass
The mass has pushed the intestines toward the spine
A small dog with bladder stones
The stones are the small white things in the bladder
